The tour commences from the main entrance of the Buxton Crescent Hotel where Anne describes the scene as she would have seen it in the summer of 1825. The tour then continues past the Square and up Manchester Road to note the marvellous stabling available for her horse, Caradoc.
The tour progresses to St John’s Church to hear quotes from her diary about her opinion of the church contextualized within the history of the building.
Anne then leads the group back past the Pavilion Gardens and up Hall Bank in search of the apothecary and doctor’s residence responsible for the health and wellbeing of her aunt during their stay. A stroll through the promenade walks of The Slopes, accompanied with her musing on her life and relationships, highlights a more hidden history in Georgian society.
The tour was recognised for excellence in the Street-Theatre category at the Buxton Festival Fringe 2024 Awards.
