Out and about Will a man of Longnor
Your guide Steve Morris is a local man with a passion for history and particularly the Longnor area. Steve was born at Under t’Hill near Glutton Bridge and brought up at Reapsmoor. These strong local connections made it an easy decision to try and persuade him to tell the Longnor story.
Steve is a practical man in fact he is just about to launch a dry stone walling business along with his wife Gail however he has a passion for history and loves to share that with the groups he takes around the village. His size 15 boots are firmly rooted in this area and he will be waiting for you outside the Crewe and harpur pub.
Departing from outside of the Crewe and Harpur pub Steve walks you through the village stopping outside the market hall and wending his way to the churchyard via the interestingly named Bull Alley. The church and the fascinating graveyard are his next stop. Before making his way down to Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub in existence from 1621 to look at some of the fascinating photographs displayed around the walls.
