Journeys through the past

Written by Netta Christie on October 19, 2017

People have been travelling to the Peak District for centuries to admire the magnificent scenery and marvel at such grand houses as Chatsworth.

In this podcast we travel in the footsteps of Celia Fiennes, a fearless female  who travelled on horseback in the seventeenth century.

We also imagine how Mary Queen of Scots would have travelled between Buxton and Chatsworth and the route she may have taken.

Our speculations take us  to Chelmorton and eventually to Chatsworth to speak to the archivist.

There’s a visit to High Peak Bookstore, a conversation about Romans and an interesting revelation about Daniel Defoe.

Please come and listen and join us on our journey.
